Mechanistic studies led to the identification of matrix metalloproteinase 13 [MMP13, also termed collagenase‐3 (Freije et al., 1994)] as an important mediator of metastatic dissemination in breast cancer cells in which the NRG–HER signaling axis was active (Seoane et al., 2016). The gene discussed is MMP13; the disease is breast carcinoma.
