It is found that the most significant single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) associated with basal cell carcinoma is located in the 3′UTR region of the oncogene encoding the well-known tumor protein P53 (TP53), which converts the canonical pA signal ‘AATAAA’ into ‘AATACA’, inducing the damaged 3′-end formation of TP53 mRNA. Here, TP53 is linked to basal cell carcinoma.
