To further confirm the central role of CD44 in the glycolytic activity of prostate cancer cells, we evaluated glucose consumption and intracellular ROS levels in PC-3 cells treated with SB-3CT, a highly selective inhibitor known to target only matrix metalloproteinase 2 (MMP- 2) and matrix metalloproteinase 9 (MMP-9)[12]. The gene discussed is MMP9; the disease is prostate cancer.
