Recent studies indicated that the p38α MAPK could promote activation and expression of PGC-1α20, 29 and blockade of p38 MAPK lead to hypertriglyceridemia and fatty liver.30 We here showed that the activation of p38 MAPK reduced in steatotic livers and its mRNA levels were tightly correlated to the levels of PGC-1α mRNA, PPARα mRNA and CYP7A1 mRNA. Here, CYP7A1 is linked to hypertriglyceridemia.
