15-LO-1 is expressed in a variety of tissues and is involved in many pathological processes.11 Several studies have documented that 15-LO-1 and its metabolites were associated with inflammatory-related disease, such as arthritis.12 Furthermore, Chabane et al.13 found that 15-HETE, the 15-LO-1 metabolite, suppressed interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β)-induced matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-1 and MMP-13 expression and type II collagen cleavage, suggesting that 15-LO-1 may have a role in the pathogenesis of OA. This evidence concerns the gene IL1B and Arthritis.
