PCSK9 and stroke disorder: In a recently reported study involving 3675 cases of stroke of any aetiology, the association of a PCSK9 genetic risk score (that excluded the rs11591147 variant, which has a considerably larger effect on LDL-C levels than the variants considered) with the risk of stroke was also weaker (OR: 0.96, 95% CI: 0.90–1.01) than was the association with non-fatal myocardial infarction (OR: 0.89, 95% CI: 0.85–0.94), when comparing participants with a PCSK9 score above and below the median.7
