Since TGF-β1 plays a key role in the proliferative phase of wound healing and in fibrosis [62], it is possible that the TGF-β1 upregulation by LTBP-2 in fibroblasts plays some role in fibrotic disease processes and in genetic disorders which have fibrotic components, such as WMS [20]. This evidence concerns the gene TGFB1 and hereditary disease.
