Several of the differentially regulated proteins that were validated in patients with CD or UC are cytokines, including IL6, IL17A, IL18, IFN-γ, eotaxin-1, CXCL9, caspase-8, and CXCL11, which have already been associated with IBD.[1, 18, 20, 25–27] Similarly, an association between the neutrophil-derived protein S100-A12 and IBD has also been reported previously. This evidence concerns the gene IL6 and inflammatory bowel disease.
