FLT3 and acute myeloid leukemia: Consistent with our previous findings that hematopoietic cells expressing tyrosine kinase oncogenes can increase NADPH levels [17], we found that AML and CML patient-derived cell lines transformed by FLT3-ITD (MOLM-13 and MV4.11), BCR-ABL (KU812) or JAK2V617F (HEL), showed significantly reduced NADPH levels (p<0.05) in response to their respective kinase inhibitors (Figure 1A, left).
