Both tenascin-C and fibronectin were distinctly expressed in the lamina propria of normal esophageal mucosa covered by squamous epithelium and in the lamina or stroma of all evaluated lesion types, including intestinal and gastric metaplasia, low- and high-grade dysplasia and adenocarcinoma (Figures 1 and 2).
