However, a small intervention study in 21 overweight and obese individuals with prediabetes identified by HbA1c showed that 16 weeks of supervised high-intensity interval or continuous moderate-intensity training combined with resistance training resulted in a mean reduction in HbA1c of 0.5% (∼5 mmol/mol) as well as improvements in both insulin sensitivity and beta cell function assessed by the HOMA model (32).
