MD has been shown to correlate negatively with NAFLD, and in combination with salt restriction, MD was shown to lower blood pressure, improve blood lipids, and improve steatosis and steatohepatitis, while omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids have been shown to reduce accumulation of lipid and liver enzymes, improve insulin sensitivity, and act as an anti-inflammatory compound (8). This evidence concerns the gene INS and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
