Zinc-α 2-glycoprotein (ZAG), a novel adipokine, was shown to be inhibited by a high-fat diet and obesity, inflammatory stimuli (TNF α), glucocorticoid receptor antagonists, eicosapentaenoic acid, and β3-adrenoceptor antagonists, whereas glucocorticoids, cancer cachexia, and β3-agonists increase ZAG production [88]. Here, AZGP1 is linked to obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
