With regard to glioma, several studies have shown that TF expression is regulated through epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)26, epidermal growth factor receptor variant III (EGFRvIII) through the ligand-independent activation of EGFR26,27, phosphatase and tensin homolog deleted on chromosome 10 (PTEN)28 and hypoxia28, and TF is associated with the formation of necrosis surrounded by pseudopalisading cells and microvascular proliferation29. The gene discussed is TF; the disease is central nervous system cancer.
