IDH1 and glioblastoma: More than 50% of the total NADPH production in glioblastoma patients is provided by IDH activity and this level is reduced after the occurrence of IDH1R132H mutation (Shi et al., 2015) which results in a depletion of intracellular GSH (Ducray et al., 2011; Parsons et al., 2008; Thota et al., 2012), causing oxidative stress and inducing transcription of genes involved in cell death (Kretz‐Remy & Arrigo, 2002).
