After adjustment, admission creatinine (OR 1.02, 95% CI 1.00–1.03, p = 0.05), SAPS II (OR 1.04, 95% CI 1.01–1.07, p = 0.02), shock within 7 days (OR 4.71, 95% CI 1.54–15.49, p = 0.01) and undetectable haptoglobin (OR 8.32, 95% CI 2.86–26.40, p < 0.001) were independently associated with the occurrence of AKI. Here, HP is linked to acute kidney injury.
