In non diabetic people, BMI was negatively associated with NTproBNP (β = −0.02 p = 0.03), independently of age, sex, creatinine, AER, CRP, smoke, physical activity, hypertension, LDL-cholesterol and CVD, but this association reverted to non significance after further adjustment for CRP, which was negatively related to NTproBNP (β = −0.15, p = < 0.0001). The gene discussed is NPPB; the disease is Hypertension.
