They demonstrated that the combination treatment of curcumin and resveratrol elicits a synergistic anticancer effect in Hepal-6 HCC cells via extrinsic and intrinsic apoptosis and is associated with reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation and downregulation of X-linked inhibitor of apoptosis protein (XIAP) and survivin, an anti-apoptosis gene. The gene discussed is XIAP; the disease is hepatocellular carcinoma.
