The results of studies on 20 human CSCs collected from nine different cancer tissues reveal that EGCG inhibits the expression of mRNAs and proteins that serve as stemness markers, such as Oct4 and Nanog, whereas the expression of a few markers such as Bax and caspase 8 is increased, indicating that EGCG exerts inhibitory effects on human CSCs (Table 2).
