In a recent study, simultaneous silencing of three cytochrome P450 lanosterol C‐14α‐demethylase (CYP51) genes in F. graminearum by HD‐RNAi was shown to completely restrict fungal infection in transgenic Arabidopsis and barley (Koch et al., 2013), although multiple targets may not always be more effective (Chen et al., 2016). The gene discussed is CYP51A1; the disease is fungal infectious disease.
