Bumrungthai et al. found that miR-21 is correlated with increased expression of α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) and interleukin 6 (IL-6) and decreased expression of PDCD4 in cell proliferation and initiates inflammation-associated carcinogenesis via nuclear factor kappa-light chain-enhancer of activated B cells (NF-kB) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) signaling pathways in colon and cervical cancer cells and Asangani et al. found miR-21 down-regulates PDCD4 in colon cancer and functions as stimulating invasion, intravasation, and metastasis [21, 22, 29]. Here, ACTA1 is linked to cervical cancer.
