Further experiments revealed that P gene of GD-SH-01 was involved in the activation of the intrinsic apoptotic pathway and that infections with GD-SH-01 or rHEP-shP lead to the downregulation of bcl-2, the decrease of mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP), the release of mitochondrial cytochrome c, the activation of caspase-9 and caspase-3, and finally the cleavage of PARP. This evidence concerns the gene CASP3 and infection.
