Even sFrp2 has been described as a negative regulator of Wnt pathway; little is known about the exact role of this inhibitor in bone microenvironment, but there are evidences of its involvement in multiple myeloma and ameloblastoma, where impairs osteoblast differentiation and bone formation, probably suppressing bone morphogenetic protein-2 activity (Oshima et al., 2005; Sathi et al., 2008). This evidence concerns the gene SFRP2 and ameloblastoma.
