Consistent with published literature, we found that documented hypoglycaemia is more frequent in insulin-treated patients, and the finding that 34% of insulin-treated patients had a “definite” episode of hypoglycaemia confirmed by a healthcare professional over the year is consistent with the 7–46% in insulin-treated patients of different durations in the UK Hypoglycaemia Study [6]: as previously mentioned, the insulin-treated patients in the current study comprised a heterogeneous group. This evidence concerns the gene INS and Hypoglycemia.
