Its prognostic relevance of aberrant SOCS-1 gene promoter methylation in myelodysplastic syndromes has also been reported, showing that patients with methylated SOCS-1 gene had significantly more frequent disease progression, shorter progression-free survival and median overall survival as compared to the patients with unmethylated SOCS-1 gene [32]. The gene discussed is SOCS1; the disease is myelodysplastic syndrome.
