Neoadjuvant Imatinib is now considered a valuable option for treating KIT-mutated GISTs [12]; it can render a locally advanced GIST resectable, allow to perform less invasive procedures or to promote preservation of function, especially if the tumor is located in an anatomically difficult position, as in case of the rare subset of GISTs that arise in the duodenum (2–5% of cases) [13]. Here, KIT is linked to gastrointestinal stromal tumor.
