Turgut at al. showed a significant association between Leptin Receptor Gene polymorphism and carotid Intima Media Thickness (cIMT) which may result in higher risk of development of early atherosclerosis in acromegaly [16], and in another study, that Growth Hormone Receptor gene polymorphisms may be a risk factor of higher plasma insulin concentration, higher BMI and increased systolic blood pressure [17].
