The detection of PC-PLC-positive granules in various cell compartments of HER2-overexpressing EOC cells (membrane, cytoplasm and nuclear matrix) indicates that this enzyme is involved in multiple cell functions, including regulation of cell cycle and cell proliferation, in agreement with previous observations on PDGF-stimulated compared with quiescent fibroblasts [40] and highly proliferating squamous carcinoma cells (A431) compared with non-tumoral keratinocytes [29]. The gene discussed is ERBB2; the disease is squamous cell carcinoma.
