The APOE gene that encodes apolipoprotein E (ApoE) located on human chromosome 19 is a multifunctional protein and is a major cholesterol carrier with central roles in lipid metabolism, neurobiology, and neurodegenerative diseases (Carrasquillo et al., 2013[11]; Hatters et al., 2006[20]).
