Changes in miR-99 family expression in the lung, liver, ovarian, bladder, and prostate cancers have been reported previously; miR-99a and its targets, such as suppression of tumorigenicity 5 (ST5), m-TOR, fibroblast growth factor receptor 3 (FGFR3), and insulin-like growth factor 1, are involved in cancer-related processes, and also miR-99a serves as tumor suppressor in most cases of various cancers (17-19). This evidence concerns the gene FGFR3 and prostate cancer.
