As described earlier, the monoclonal antibody 3F3A, directed against AMFR/Gp78 in B16-F1 melanoma cells, possibly binds to AMFR in a manner similar to AMF and thus mounting similar effects, including increased cell motility leading to the identification of Gp78 as the receptor protein for AMF (Nabi et al., 1990, 1992). This evidence concerns the gene GPI and melanoma.
