Western Blot results demonstrated that SIRT1 was markedly downregulated in DCM mouse myocardium (0.42 ± 0.02 versus 0.76 ± 0.03, p < 0.05, DCM versus Con group), while resveratrol enhanced SIRT1 expression in DCM + RES mice (0.62 ± 0.05 versus 0.42 ± 0.02, p < 0.05, DCM + RES versus DCM group), suggesting that the reduction of DCM cardiac function and beneficial effects of resveratrol may be associated with SIRT1. This evidence concerns the gene SIRT1 and familial dilated cardiomyopathy.
