We have previously reported that LGR5 enhanced the proliferation and tumor formation abilities of cervical cancer cells by activating the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway.11 To understand whether elevated LGR5 expression is able to enhance cervical cancer cell stemness through Wnt/β-catenin signaling, DKK-1, an inhibitor of the Wnt/β-catenin pathway by binding to LRP6,22 was used to block the Wnt/β-catenin pathway in LGR5-modulated SiHa and HeLa cells. The gene discussed is LGR5; the disease is cervical carcinoma.
