Myosin beta heavy chain 7 (myh7), actin alpha cardiac muscle 1 (actc1) and actin alpha 1 (acta1) genes that are known to be involved in the hypertrophic remodeling of the cardiac muscle, were downregulated in the mock-treated Pompe mice despite clinical cardiac hypertrophy, showing that the pathogenesis of Pompe’s cardiomyopathy is related to the storage rather than to a sarcomeropathy. Here, ACTA1 is linked to cardiac hypertrophy.
