The role of TIF1γ as a tumor suppressor has been directly shown in chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (121), pancreatic tumor (122–124), hepatocellular carcinoma (125), renal cell carcinoma (126), and non-small cell lung cancer (127), where TIF1γ decreased expression or inactivation promotes proliferation and probably epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (97–104). The gene discussed is TRIM33; the disease is chronic myelomonocytic leukemia.
