The phosphorylation of KCTD12 at S243 could also facilitate the interaction of CDC25B and CDK1 to activate CDK1 and its downstream target, Aurora A, which in turn phosphorylates KCTD12 at serine 243 to activate KCTD12, thereby initiating a positive feedback loop that facilitates cell entry into mitosis and promotes cancer cell proliferation (Figure 7e).
