Analyses focusing on the spatial relationship to parvalbumin—as marker for most neocortical net-bearing neurons—revealed in all three models the expected up-regulated Coll IV-immunoreactivity (Figures 4C, 5C, 6C), delineating ischemia-affected tissue, whereas in the same area WFA-stained nets appeared decomposed (Figures 4C′, 6C′) or were even abolished (Figure 5C′).
