GGTLC1 and cholestasis: Recent studies demonstrate that biomarkers of cholestasis (which lead to hepatocellular injury, bile duct obstruction and ultimately fibrosis) including increased levels of serum alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and gamma glutamyltranspeptidase (GGT), as well as conjugated hyperbilirubinemia which occurred in more advanced stages are related to pathological changes and poor prognosis in liver diseases11–13.
