Studies by Nixon’s group have investigated a continuous intoxication 4 day binge alcohol dependence model in adolescence and reported decreased hippocampal NPC survival 28 days after ethanol exposure, increased markers of cell death, and reduced DCX+IR, but no change in hippocampal Ki67+IR just after alcohol exposure ended (Morris et al., 2010; McClain et al., 2011) similar to our findings just after AIE exposure at P57. The gene discussed is DCX; the disease is nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
