In a murine asthma model, we show that SFK plays a critical role in the transactivation of EGFR and the subsequent activation of multiple downstream signaling pathways involving ERK1/2 and PI3Kδ/Akt and the transcriptional factor NFκB, which ultimately lead to the development of the allergic airway inflammatory response (see Fig. 8). The gene discussed is MAPK3; the disease is asthma.
