VEGFA and ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction: The main findings are as follows: 1) systemic VEGF-A165b levels are elevated in STEMI patients; 2) elevated circulating VEGF-A165b levels are associated with a large infarct size and reduced LVEF in STEMI patients; 3) up-regulation of VEGF-A165b protein expression occurs in infarcted tissue; 4) VEGF-A165b blockade in serum from STEMI patients enhances angiogenesis, proliferation and migration of human coronary endothelial cells ex vivo.
