In the context of aTB disease (irrespective of HIV infection), ESAT-6/CFP-10-specific IFNγ+ CD4+ T cells were characterized by significantly lower expression of CD27 (median: 26% for HIV− and 20% for HIV+) when compared to persons with LTBI (70% for HIV− and 72% for HIV+). This evidence concerns the gene IFNG and HIV infectious disease.
