LEPR and type 2 diabetes mellitus: Knockdown of the leptin receptor with siRNA in the ARCN and PVN significantly inhibited an NMDA-induced increase in RSNA in the ARCN (Figure 3(a)), but not in the PVN (Figure 3(b)), in both control and T2D rats (ARCN: 16 ± 4% versus 38 ± 6% in control and 20 ± 3% versus 59 ± 4% in T2D, P < 0.05), MAP (ARCN: 6 ± 1 mmHg versus 14 ± 3 mmHg in control and 8 ± 2 mmHg versus 25 ± 4 mmHg in T2D, P < 0.05), and HR (ARCN: 11 ± 3 bpm versus 22 ± 8 bpm in control and 19 ± 8 bpm versus 43 ± 7 bpm in T2D, P < 0.05).
