INS and Insulin resistance: A study in rats conducted by Mima and col.35 demonstrated insulin activated the IRS1/PI3K/Akt pathway in both the glomeruli and tubules; however analyzing both a type 1 diabetes model generated by STZ treatment and a type 2 diabetes model by using fatty Zucker strain, it was observed the loss of insulin signaling exclusively in glomeruli, suggesting that these cells are more susceptible to developing insulin resistance.
