In the present study, we pursued three aims: (1) to determine the clinical characteristics of a population of diabetic patients with different types of neuropathy, (2) to characterize the levels of interleukin 6 (IL-6) and interleukin 10 (IL-10), nerve growth factor and circulating cell-adhesion molecules, and (3) to compare the renal function among the groups of neuropathic patients. The gene discussed is NGF; the disease is neuropathy.
