Prior studies indicate that phagocyte recruitment to M. marinum infection is unique in two respects: (1) neutrophils are not recruited to the initial site of infection (Yang et al., 2012), and (2) macrophage recruitment is independent of TLR-signaling, but dependent on the monocyte chemokine CCL2 and its receptor CCR2 (Cambier et al., 2014). The gene discussed is CCL2; the disease is infection.
