Ishibashi et al. showed that HOTAIR expression was related to significantly poorer prognoses and larger primary tumors and that HOTAIR introduced to liver cancer cells resulted in rapid proliferation compared to controls [24], while Ding et al. reported that HOTAIR promoted HCC cell migration and invasion by inhibiting RBM38 (RNA binding motif protein 38) [25].
