GNA11 and atopic eczema: This is plausible as somatic activating Gα11 mutations have been reported to cause cutaneous pigmentation disorders such as dermal melanocytosis,37 and studies of atopic dermatitis, which is characterized by impaired epithelial barrier function and eczematous skin lesions, have revealed that Gq/11‐coupled chemokine receptors facilitate the migration of inflammatory cells within the dermis.38 However, such roles of loss‐of‐function Gα11 mutations in cutaneous disorders remain to be elucidated, and these may be facilitated by studies of additional FHH2 patients and appropriate mouse models.
