These observations indicate that the hydrogen peroxide-mediated reduction in MMP-3 in stromal fibroblasts was, at least in part, possibly due to the suppression of promoter activities by NF-κB, whereas the induction of MMP-3 in prostate cancer cells by hydrogen peroxide may occur through other regulatory mechanisms, such as mRNA translation or stability. This evidence concerns the gene NFKB1 and prostate cancer.
