Hence, the purpose of the present study was to study the role of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in IL4, IL6, IL8, IL10, IFNG, APOL1, TNFA, HPR, HLA-G, HLA-A, HP, and MIF genes on susceptibility/resistance to HAT by means of an association study between HAT cases, seropositive microscopically aparasitaemic subjects with latent infections, and controls in order to explore their possible role in human immunity to this complex disease. This evidence concerns the gene TNF and disease arising from reactivation of latent virus.
